This story got added into the HERE WE GO collection rather by accident. One day I had an idea for a little "revenge" story and for some reason the movie UNCLE BUCK (one of my favorites) popped into my head and all the dialogue of the main character just spilled right out. I wrote it all down as quick as I could, only the dialogue and then went back and began constructing the story. Once I had the short done I didn't really intend to do anything with it as I was busy working on the HERE WE GO kickstarter and some other things.

I met Matt Battaglia two years ago at ECCC. He was part of a group of people I ended up hanging out that weekend and we got along well. At the time, he mentioned he was an artist, but hadn't really done anything yet. He wasn't showing work around the con, just hanging out and having a good time. We since kept in touch via Twitter and over the last 6-8 months or so I noticed he began posting some work he was doing and I really dug his style. One day we began talking and he asked for some writing help with a pet project of his called CRIMSON BEARD. Working on Matt's idea has been a lot of fun and it was another challenge for me, writing to completed pages. (Matt and I are still working on this story, so stay tuned.) During the course of this project working together I showed Matt the script for Uncle Buck. He said he loved it and would like to draw it. I hadn't really ever thought about asking Matt to do it, because working on Uncle Buck wasn't on my radar at the time, but as soon as he said he was interested it clicked right away that he was perfect. He has a very moody, ominous style that so eloquently sets the mood and tone of this book. And those colors! I mean c'mon, they are just so gorgeous. The lettering style he brought also gave the story a very unique perspective. Matt's been an incredible collaborator to work with and this is just the beginning of what I think he and I will be capable of. I'm looking forward to what's next. (Oh that's right, we've got ideas.)

He completed the short right as I was wrapping up HERE WE GO, so we decided to add it into the collection. I'm really glad we did. It helps raise the level of talent and quality in the book and it adds yet another diverse story to the collection which is one thing I love most about HERE WE GO. I was a little nervous because this short is quite a bit different from anything I've done, but at the end of the day, I think that's what I love most about it. Enjoy! Oh and beware, this short is not kid friendly! Reader discretion advised.
