The story you are about to read is one I am very excited about and very proud of. It all started seeing a friend's drawing of a mother and a son (See here). There was something to this image that I loved and I wanted to tell a story about these two. I wasn't sure what that would be so I let my mind wander for a while and eventually the story unfolded. However, it wasn't until I had the idea for the last page that the story clicked and I felt I really had something. The feeling you get when an idea just clicks is a big reason I love doing this.

So then the hunt began for an artist that could pull this story off in the style I was looking for. I've always felt this had a Pixar feel to it, so I wanted an art style to match. I had an artist attached but then they became unavailable so I searched for a long time and finally found the incomparable Anwar Madrigal. His style was perfect and he's been an amazing collaborator. This is the other big reason I love doing this, getting to work with really talented people that help turn things I write into true works of art. Anwar has taken this story to another level and I am so grateful to him for that. It's been a sheer joy collaborating with him on this and we've already begun talking about what's next.

Last but not least, one of my shorts wouldn't be complete without the amazing Thomas Mauer at the helm for lettering. Thomas is a true pro and so easy to work with. A lot of people under-estimate the value of lettering in comics, but it is so vitally important. Thomas is one of those guys who understands how to do great lettering and make it fit and flow within the story.

I hope you enjoy this and if you do, please share it with a friend.
